Job Title: Community Impact Director
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Status: Full time / Exempt
Office Location: Main Office- Fairmont, WV
Purpose of Position:
Serves as lead professional staff for management of fund distribution process, agency relations activities and community impact programming, including, but not limited to, West Virginia 2-1-1, Flipside Afterschool, and VITA. This position also manages United Way’s VolunteerHQ program.
Skills and Abilities:
• Has extensive knowledge of human service program evaluation and outcome measurement.
• Has grant writing experience and successes
• Possesses knowledge of community social services or demonstrated ability to gain such knowledge
• Ability to build and retain quality relationships with business and community leaders
• Possesses strong project management skills
• Has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Has general knowledge of Microsoft software, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision
• Ability and desire to work with professionals and volunteers from diverse backgrounds who have variety of competencies
• Strong team skills and proven capacity to initiate and manage complex projects.
• Ability to recruit and motivate volunteers
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Fund Distribution Management
• Provides staff leadership in planning and directing all aspects of the annual Community Review Process, including program outcome measurement work.
• Recruits high-caliber community volunteers to serve on Community Review Committee.
• Brings agency issues and deficiencies to the attention of the Executive Director and appropriate volunteer leadership.
Community Impact Management
• Oversee community impact programs including West Virginia 2-1-1, MyFreeTaxes, VITA, Grandfamilies, Outerwear Collections, Born Learning Trails, Flipside, and food drives.
• Help manage special events created or developed in support of community impact programs/initiatives.
• Obtain grant income and in-kind resources to assist in financing community impact objectives.
Agency Relations Management
• Works to provide educational opportunities and individual consultations to agencies on topics related to non-profit management.
• Serve as a community resource on services and needs of the community.
• Develop support programs to assist partner agencies in the preparation of grant request forms, outcome measurement strategies, as well as other areas of work, as requested or as time permits.
• Help establish partnerships and collaborations to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of social service programs.
• Manage relationships with the region’s nonprofit agencies to ensure a positive, mutually supportive environment of partnership in addressing the most pressing needs of the community.
• Be a visible representative of United Way among donors, member agencies and the general public.
VolunteerHQ
• Coordinates specific events and public relations efforts to promote volunteerism.
• Provides information and training to businesses desiring to develop workplace volunteer programs and to religious/civic organizations with new or existing programs.
• Serves as the lead staff member for web training and volunteer management system.
• Works with Executive Director to develop goals, objectives, and evaluation strategies to achieve program mission.
• Coordinates volunteer recognition events as needed.
• Works with Fairmont State University as lead United Way staff member on volunteerism and student service projects.
Supervision
• Position supervises two full-time Program Managers and one AmeriCorps member
Other Duties
• Provides information and referral for persons seeking services.
• Present on United Way’s behalf at community presentations and workplace campaign presentations.
• Assist with annual fundraising campaign as needed.
• Represents United Way on various community committees and collaborations.
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Undergraduate degree is highly preferred.
• Candidates with extensive applicable experience in non-profit or volunteer management, public administration, or business administration may be considered.
• A minimum of three years professional experience is required.

Salary
• Range: $42,000 – $46,000
